
Long Range 2 is an 2-day advanced rifle course designed around practical applications for precision rifle shooting.
The course starts with a two hour classroom presentation focusing on unknown distance shooting and ballistic calculators. The class will then move to the range for 3 hours of practical exercises shooting at unknown distance targets.
The course will then shift focus to shooting from alternate shooting positions/platforms. Students will learn how weapons cant affects trajectory as well as how to build a stable shooting platform on a variety of positions/platforms.
Who should take this course? Anyone who has experience shooting long distance. This course takes the fundamentals of long range shooting and adds in real-world, practical applications. From hunters who want to extend their range, to competitive shooters looking for an edge, Long Range 2 covers it all.
Pre-requisites:
Experience with your rifle and equipment and an understanding of your DOPE/DATA. This is not a fundamentals class, will need to be able to show up and make shots to distance.
Required:
- Eye protection
- Ear protection
- Precision rifle capable of <1moa
- Rifle optic with adjustable turrets
- Ballistic calculator, ie. Kestrel, Hornady 4dof, ballistic arc, Applied ballistics
- Note taking gear, pen, paper
- 100 rounds of match ammunition
Recommended:
- Range finder
- Inclement weather cold/wet weather clothing.
- Data management, wrist coach, or clip on data cards
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
Students are encouraged to bring any equipment they would like to practice with (IE: tripods). BSR will attempt to facilitate any equipment as long as safe shooting practices can be followed.
- Check in will start at 8:30am.
- Class will begin at BSR Battle School at 9:00am.
- Bring your own rifle and 100 rounds of ammo, or rent one of our precision rifles and 100 rounds of ammo.
- Your level II long range course will wrap up around 5:00pm.
