Intro to Long Range

1-Day Introduction to Long Range Precision Shooting

Starting at 9 am students will be given a two hour class on rifle set up, internal, external and terminal ballistics, ballistic coefficients, wind calls, proper shooting fundamentals and zeroing. Then, the course will go to the range where students will confirm their rifle zero and break for lunch. In the afternoon students then transition into shooting at known distances out to 1000 yards from our elevated shooting tower.

  • Check in will start at 8:30am.
  • Class will begin at BSR Battle School at 9:00am.
  • Bring your own rifle and 100 rounds of ammo.

Course Description:

Level II will have a two hour classroom presentation with a focus on unknown distance shooting and ballistic calculators. The class will then move to the range for 3 hours of practical exercises shooting at unknown distance targets. The class will then shift focus to shooting from alternate shooting positions/platforms. Students will learn how weapons cant effects trajectory as well as how to build a stable shooting platform on a variety of positions/platforms. Students are encouraged to bring any equipment they would like to practice with (IE: tripods). BSR will attempt to facilitate any equipment as long as safe shooting practices can be followed.

Practical Precision Rifle Course

5-Day Practical Precision Rifle Shooting Course

The Practical Precision Rifle Class is a course unlike any other long range rifle offerings in the current training market. Designed from the ground up by US Army Scout-Sniper, Tyler Black, this course is designed to teach you everything you need to know to be proficient with a precision rifle in realistic shooting situations out to 1,000 yards.

  • Variable power optic with a refined reticle in either moa or mrad preferred in first focal plane. With adjustable turrets. (If you have questions on optics contact us)
  • Bipod preferred with cant capability
  • Ballistic calculator
  • Shooting support bag, ie wiebad fortune cookie, Armageddon game changer
  • 300 rounds of matching, match grade ammunition.
  • Data management device. Wrist coach or rifle clip on data card holder

PRS CLINICS

1-Day Introduction to Shooting in PRS Matches

This course is designed to teach students the rules, scoring, and setup for shooting in competitive PRS-style rifle matches. If you’ve been looking for a course to get you started in competitive, long-range rifle shooting – this is it. Students not only get the course, they are automatically enrolled in our next PRS match.

Pre-requisites:

Experience with your rifle and equipment and an understanding of your DOPE/DATA. This is not a fundamentals class, will need to be able to show up and make shots to distance.

Class outline:

  1. Safety brief, and range etiquette brief.
  2. Introduction to low, med, high kneeling.
  3. Introduction to low, med, high standing.
  4. In depth prone position instruction.
  5. Utilizing tank trap, PRS barricade, vehicles, windows, rocks, cattle gate.
  6. How to manage dope, under the confines of hunting and competition.
  7. Introduction of the shot timer, to induce the stress of the clock to simulate competition or hunting or a tactical environment.
  8. Break for lunch.
  9. Run students through a 6 stage course of fire forcing them to utilize and transition between all taught shooting positions. Primary instructor will shoot every stage first in line for demonstration purpose.
  10. Tally of scores. Top shooter in the class will receive battle springs ranch swag.
  11. Free time for students to go and reshoot any stage from the course of fire. With additional guidance and instruction.

1-Day Long Range Precision Rifle Wind Clinic

Wind is the great equalizer in precision rifle shooting. This one-day class will teach a systematic approach to analyzing wind and making accurate shots in a variety of different wind conditions. Making corrections for wind is an educated guess. Learn how to read wind and terrain and the math behind the process to make the most accurate shot possible in high wind environments. Whether you are new to making your own wind calls or looking to refine what you already know this class will help you in your journey of precision rifle.

Pre-requisites:

Experience with your rifle and equipment and an understanding of your DOPE/DATA. This is not a fundamentals class, will need to be able to show up and make shots to distance.
